TG Fantasy Fiction: The Misadventures of Ka-Ron the Knight

The fantasy genre gives ample room for the exploration of cross-gender fantasies, and some authors have done so in the most fascinating ways.
Donald Allen Kirch lives in Kansas City, Missouri. He is an avid reader of history, Sherlock Holmes Mysteries, and the paranormal. He has a degree in Radio and Television Arts. He has written several books, some of them touching upon magic and the paranormal.

And yes, he has written a series of four fantasy books about Ka-Ron, the manly knight, who due to an untimely curse is doomed to spend much time as a buxom female.

He has created a rich and imaginative universe, where traditional fantasy elements meet steam punk  machinery.

Traditional fantasy figures are turned into something unusual and interesting. The dwarves are, for instance, in no way what you would expect them to be. Nor are the elves or the vampires.

The transformation element is essential to the books. Still, that does not mean that they can be reduced to TG fiction. The Nown World Chronicles are much more than that, richer and -- in many ways -- darker. The books can at time be very violent, and there are no easy ways out for our protagonists.

This is not a political drama in the Game of Throne sense. Nor do the books present the existential depth found in the books of Robin Hobbs. This is action-filled entertainment -- nothing more and nothing less.

Kirch says he is working on a new trilogy on Ka-ron. Those books, however, are to be prequels to the Nown World Chronicles, so it is unclear whether they will include gender bending of the sort found here.

You can download chapter 1 of book 1 here!

Forced Sexchange Story May Be Filmed

From GayNZ.

Film-maker Sir Peter Jackson is reportedly considering making a movie based on the experience of a Canadian man who a New Zealand doctor tried unsuccessfully to turn into a woman.

After a botched circumcision operation in the mid-1960s, psychologist
and sexologist John Money, with the approval of then-seven month old David Reimer's parents, tried to convert the boy into a girl through
gender realignment surgery. The parents then raised their son as a girl
who they called Brenda.

However, his re-built physiognomy was at variance with his natural gender and he never identified as a girl. At age 15 Reimer, increasingly experiencing extreme psychological trauma, transitioned to living as a male. He died suddenly in 2005 at age 38.

Jackson has told the Sunday Star Times he is inclined to make another New Zealand-themed or -linked movie soon. His last was Heavenly Creatures in 1994, a movie which carried undertones of sexuality issues. He describes Money as "the doctor who was the cause of that family's misery."

Predestination

Snook
Predestination is a new movie starring Ethan Hawke and Sarah Snook.  I'm not sure of the worldwide release date, but hopefully we'll get to see it soon, since the buzz about it and the trailer (below) are very intriguing.

The core of the movie is about a time-travelling cop whose job it is to set things right.  Of course, we've seen this kind of thing before.  However the interesting part is that there seems to be a gender-bending aspect to it as well.  Not many details have been released, but if you watch the trailer, you'll see that Sarah Snook seems to be both male AND female in it.

Check out more details of the film at this IMDB link as well.

Cross Dressing Actor Christopher Morley

I thought we should play tribute to actor Christopher Morely.

As a child I thought Christopher Morely was a true magician being able to morph himself into a very convincing female and then back again to male. He was a role model, something I personally wanted to be able to achieve when I grew up. I first saw Chris in 'Freebie and the Bean', and was totally blown away by him. It is a shame that his career was mainly in the Hollywood homophobic era, but still his performances were magical.

Here is a condensed clip of an Episode of Partners in Crime called 'Is she or isn't he?' in which Chris features from the begining.

Another television series he appeared in was Vegas, from the 1980's. Here is a clip, together with a complete play list. These clips are from Erica caddei's YouTube channel SGF, which is well worth a visit.

I don't know where Chris is these days or what he is up to, but it would be lovely to know he is well and happy. Cheryl x

Short bio from Wikipedia

Christopher Jarman Morley was born in 1951 and was the older of two sons born to William Jarman Morley, II and Frances Farmer. His paternal family originated in St. Mary's Parish of Nottingham, England but came to America in 1843, settling first in Dillsboro, Indiana and later in Carrollton, Kentucky. His great-grandfather, William Jarman Morley, I, moved to Austin, Texas in the 1870's and was a co-founder of Morley Brother's Drug Company. The company invented and patented many popular old remedies and gradually grew to include locations in several states.

Christopher's parents divorced and he and his brother, David Morley, were raised by their mother and allowed little contact with their father, a prominent veterinarian in El Paso, Texas.

Christopher Morley was accepted to UCLA in 1969 with a major in mathematics. Once at UCLA, he changed his major to dance and studied ballet with Mia Slavenska. He also studied ballet with Stanley Holden at the Los Angeles Music Center. He performed with the Santa Monica Ballet Co. at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in their production of 'The Nutcracker.' Later he obtained his license in Cosmetology, and worked in Beverly Hills at the John Peters Hair Salon, on Rodeo drive. He and his Style Assistant, Robert A. Romero, achieved recognition and success in the Beverly Hills/Hollywood area. Unfortunately, his Assistant, Robert, moved on the Eric Serena Hair Salon, working with stars, such as Cher and others. Both later regretted this career change and separation of a successful work relationship. An actor and female impersonator who specialized in cross-dressing roles in the 1970s and '80s.

Give Yourself A New Face

I find this technology fascinating.  Granted, it isn't a true transformation and there's no mention of anything TG-related. However after watching the video, you'll see that it's not much of a leap to extend the concept to the idea of projecting one person's face onto someone else's.

The way I look at it, it's kind of the reverse of the Oculus Rift. Instead of YOU seeing the WORLD differently, the WORLD would be seeing YOU differently.

Here's a short article about the technology...

But certainly check our the video below as well.  It's mesmerizing to watch.  Also worth noting that the model has her eyes closed for the whole demonstration, even though you'd swear that she opens them.

Sex Change Regret & Retransition

A most fascinating documentary regarding retransition and sexchange regret. The other parts are also on You Tube.

"I simply grew out..... of the feelings I had, that made me want to live as a female"

So what made someone grow out of these feelings? Judy/Josef Kirchner looked great as a female and was in every way a female when she is saying how she wants to be male again. Are there those who are truly duel gendered to the point  where they need to do one role full time and then another?

And what of Josef today? He has a new website 'Mangina Man'

The Skin I Live In

almodovar the skin i live in
Sometimes the TG fiction community may looked like a closed community, focusing on themes never found in traditional media.

That is actually not true. There are important artists out there who make use of TG themes, and I suspect at least some of them share the interests of the readers of this blog.

Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar has introduced many transgender persons in his movies, but not one of these movies have been as explicit as La Piel que Habito or The Skin I Live In.

The movie is loosely based on the French book Tarantula by Thierry Jonquet. But although the book deviates a bit from the plot of the movie, the novel could also have been published as a story on one of the main TG fiction portals.

Here you will find one of the traditional TG themes: A young boy abducted by mad scientist, is being turned into a woman.

Forced Sex Change Hollywood Style

A forced sex change Hollywood style? Well...... not with the low budget allowed for this film. Done in the style of a low budget Saw type slasher movie our 'Victim' is kidnapped and forcibly feminised by a mad surgeon and his scary henchman.

This film does not really leave room for any fantasy enthusiasts out there who dream about being forced into having a sex change. A far better example is Almodovars The Skin I Live In. Still worth a watch though.

Hard to obtain on DVD as I think it was mainly made for streaming purposes. I think it was released on DVD in Australia in multi region format. Here is the trailer:  Cheryl x

Little deleted TG Scene in Thor: The Dark World

Some of you may know this scene already, but for those who don't this may be a very fun and grateful hint, that there was a scene in Thor: The Dark World by Marvel, which was deleted in the cinematic version of the movie.
Loki transforms Thor into Sif for a few seconds:

It is not much, but maybe some people will enjoy it ;)

K-11 (AKA Cell K-11 in the UK) has taken a little while to finally come out on DVD in the UK. Perhaps not eveyones cup of tea as I suspect it shows TG in a poor light.

Have any of the readers here seen it?

She Man - A Forced Feminization Film Classic

As a film buff I have always been fascinated by any film with covers our subject matter, especially exploitation cinema. We have probably all heard of films like Glen or Genda or Let Me Die a Woman which for their faults do attempt at some form of understanding and acceptance of the transgendered community in the days of old. However this little gem SHE MAN (1967) goes straight to the jugular and just exposes what clearly must be the directors fantasy. The first forced feminization movie ever made. The ingredients are: blackmail, forced cross dressing, a dominatrix and naturally the forced taking of female hormones. How on earth could this be made into a film and put into cinemas back in 1967??

Albert Rose (Leslie Marlowe) is a spoiled rich young man who receives a mysterious letter concerning a secret from his past. He is quickly flown to a hotel room in Florida, where he quickly realises he is the subject of a blackmail scheme. The blackmailer,  Dominitra (Dorian Wayne) demands twenty thousand dollars and one year of servitude from Albert.

Albert is then whisked off to Dominitra's home where we see other 'transformed' victims of the cruel Dominita. The rules are men must dress and act like women, and women must dress and act like men. Albert's is re-christened Rose Albert and put on a diet of female hormones. There is a love interest element too as Albert falls for another servant, Ruth (Wendy Roberts), and the two team up to try and stop Dominitra. Can they stop Dominita, will Albert reclaim his masculinity, will Dominita get her wig pulled off in the final scene? I actually thought Dominita was played by a real woman when I first watched this film.

So what happened to the film director of this lost forced feminization classic? Well Bob Clark went on to make more well known movies such as Porky's, Porky's II and Black Christmas. Bob also made another strange crossdressing movie in 1966 The Emperor's New Clothes. I went on to make Tranisa.
