Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde, the 1971 gender change horror movie

Back in 1971 the British production company Hammer Film Production presented another Gothic horror movie: Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde. It was based on the 1886 story The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson.

(The movie should not be confused with the 1995 comedy Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde).

The Hammer movies has never been considered high art by any means, but the effective use of clichés (amazing Victorian characters and sets, to name one) and clever filming and editing continue to be fun to watch. The company is still around.

Dr. Jekyll is looking for an elixir of life and realizes that giving flies female hormones make them live longer. They also turn males into females.

Planning to use himself as a human test subject Dr. Jekyll has to get hold of bodies of women to get access to said hormones, and while he starts out buying corpses provided by grave robbers it all soon escalates into murders of the Jack the Ripper kind.

Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde does have some crossdreamer qualities. The first transformation scene is clearly an erotic one, and much more explicit than the clip below may indicate. The movie also makes use of a trope from TG fiction, where the female personality - sexy, alluring and obsessive - threatens to take over completely.

All in all it is not a bad movie, as far as B movies go. Do not expect realism, though. It takes only 30 seconds from the doctor drinks a glass of female hormones until "Sister Hyde" takes over. We wish!

New body swap movies and TV series of interest

It seems the interest in gender body swap movies and TV series come and go, but recently we have had quite a few you might want to take a look at.

This post is partly based on information shared over at Crossdream Life.

Body Swap (2011)

Timothy Morton has made an independent movie starring Ella Jordan and Jimmy Kustes, called Body Swap.

As is often the case with such movies the plot is there to explore gender differences and how men and women can learn to better understand each other.

It is not made by a crossdreamer.

I see that it is found on Amazon, Tubi and Plex in some areas.

Swap Me Baby  (2022)

This is one seriously trippy movie, and not only because one of the main characters is using magic mushrooms.

Lily, business woman and control freak, ends up in bed with Philippe, a French mushroom tripping gigolo. So they get pregnant. Their therapist recommends a trip to a cabin in the woods, introducing them to a magic box that... you know, does magic. Hence the body swap.

I do not know what to make of the film. First and foremost it is some kind of crazy romantic comedy. But it has some serious undertones as well.

I also made note of the fact that whoever made this film is a sucker for body swap movies in general. There is even a reference to the original Freaky Friday movie.

This is not a crossdreamer movie, either, but it is a lot of fun.

Using AI to create dream images of your other self

AIs like Dall-E, Stable Diffusion and Midjourney makes it possible to create close to photorealistic images of people.

The better you are at describing the image you want to see, the closer the image is to your inner vision of what you'd like to see.

This means that it is now possible to generate an image of your inner dream girl for free or for a relatively low price.

I have been testing out Midjourney version 5 for a day or so, and is impressed with the results. Midjourney can now produce images that are nearly photorealistic, or – if you prefer – art inspired paintings and drawings.

It is possible to make images where people change gender, although you have to work a bit harder to make that work.

I have shared some more images over in the Crossdream Life forum. If you have done anything similar, please share your images there.

Interview with Miss Mako, the MTF movie hero

Erika Dapkewicz has probably been the most prolific MTF transformation movie maker ever. Many have enjoyed her many stories published over at YouTube

She has also made full length movies with MTF transformation components, like the Paradox Alice science fiction movie.

Monika Kowalska has interviewed Erika over at her transgender heroines blog, where Erika also talks about how transgender fiction helped her come to terms with her own identity.

Monika: Your YouTube vlog attracted almost 150 thousand subscribers. What inspired you to create the Miss Mako persona?

Erika: Oh, that’s a story from a long long time ago. When I was little and suffering from gender dysphoria… I was transfixed by fantasy stories of men transforming into women.I used to write stories and draw comics of this when I was a little kid and kept doing it when I became a teenager. It was when the internet came around in the mid-1990s that I found a website called The Transformation Graphics & Story Archive. It was the first time I found similar people like myself doing some of the same stories and art. To not use my real name at the time I picked the handle of MAKO (after my love of sharks).

Everyone had a handle then. I started to gain a bit of an underground following. I was pushing myself to do these stories in different mediums. So I started to do my own animated shorts. Comics. Live-action shorts culminating in a live-action feature called, “Paradox Alice”. I was asked to start my own YouTube Channel and I did so in 2006. I also started to do my own Vlogs and you can see me pre and post-transition on those.

Over the years… more and more people followed me. And many suffering from gender dysphoria from around the world and sharing their stories with me. I changed my handle to MISS MAKO after I transitioned. I don’t nearly post much on the channel anymore. As again… I’m trying to have a better balance of being able to enjoy life as much as I can now.

Miss Mako is using her experience from making MTF transformation movies to editing Disney movies!

I'm a Killer Maid

Slash Film reports that the comic book "I'm a Killer Maid" is to be made into a TV series.

"I'm a Killer Maid" is a Chinese comic about a man who swaps bodies with his female housekeeper, only to find out that she is really an assassin.

Watching the trailer I do not think we have to take this series to seriously.

The comic is available over at Kiss Manga.

How to use Faceapp and Remini to make a photo of your female self

Over at Crossdream Life Megan describes how you can use Faceapp and Remini to create an animated  photo of the way you would look as "the other gender".

The implementation of Artificial Intelligence has made the new crop of smart phone apps so much better at manipulating photos and animations.

All you need is a clear photo of yourself (preferably your younger self), a smartphone and the apps.

Finally, a nonbinary femme Flash

In the forthcoming DC Pride anthology queer writers will write queer stories about queer superheroes.

Den of Geek explains  that Lore, a non-binary artist with ADHD, has made a comic featuring the non-binary Flash of Earth 11.

Rosie Knight writes:

It was also the chance for Lore to tell a story about a non-binary hero who wasn’t defined by their appearance. That was something Lore could relate to as a non-binary person who loves makeup and colors but was worried about not being percieved as non-binary due to the connotation of those things being “femme.”

New MTF body swap horror movie with Vince Vaughn: "Freaky"

Freaky is a new gender bending body swap movie where Vince Vaughn, playing a psychotic mass murderer, swaps bodies with a high school girl played by Kathryn Newton.

The reviews are mixed, but many seem to find this horror slasher comedy worth watching. I have not seen it yet.

The name Freaky is clearly a reference to the more innocent body swap movie called Freaky Friday. The Atlantic calls it "The Most Purely Enjoyable Horror Movie Made in Years".

Vaugh plays the Blissfield Butcher, who murders unsuspecting teens until an Aztec dagger delivers the necessary magic needed for the swap.

Tomris Laffly writes:

"Freaky" is a fun, frisky, and nostalgic ride that delivers laughs, various inventively bloody kills, and on occasion, even some 21st-century-appropriate observations on gender norms and sexuality. Just don’t expect to be surprised a great deal by it.

Lovecraft Country may be of interest to you

 This post includes minor spoilers.

The Corona crisis has made me see far too much TV, I'm afraid. But some of it is very good. After binging Watchmen I went over to Lovecraft Country, the HBO horror series inspired by H.P. Lovecraft, the author, and based on the book by Matt Ruff.

There is a story arch, but each episode focuses on one particular story, all with a strong horror, fantasy and/or science fiction vibes. It is very well done.

And now for the spoilers: The series contains one of the most creative gender transformation scenes I have ever seen. There is also a two spirit character. That is all I am going to tell you.

As safe place to talk about all kinds of gender variance

This post is not exactly off topic, but it is about erotic MTF transformations in media either. It may still be of use to you.

I have been hanging out over at Crossdream Life for a while. That forum is not about sharing feminization fantasies, but it is a place where you can talk about gender, gender variance and gender identity. You can also talk about what it is that causes you to have such fantasies.

You may think of yourself as cis, trans, nonbinary, a crossdresser, a crossdreamer, a drag quee, queer or whatever. You will be welcome. The only thing they do not like is people telling trans women they are nothing but fetishists. But we knew that already, didn't we?

You may also use the forum to find support if you are struggling with your gender identity. The other members cannot tell you who or what you are, but they may help you find out.

If you are interested in transgender and queer issues in general, you will also find a lot of interesting information over there.

TG Comics and The Champagne Room

There are a lot of new stories over at TG Comics, and if you haven't visited in a while, you should definitely take a look. Many of them are free.

One such story is The Champagne Room by Kara Comet, a feisty feminization fantasy about a night club owner who gets his own magic used against himself. One for the sissy enthusiasts, I suppose.

If you are looking for some really good artwork, you should take a look at the MTF transformation superhero comic, Lady Valiant, by TeamLV.

Zeus as a Crossdreamer

Over at Crossdream Life, the forum for crossdreamers, crossdressers, trans and nonbinary people, there is an interesting post on the myth about the god Zeus and the nymph Calisto.

In order to seduce Calisto Zeus AKA Jupiter changed himself into a woman.

This gave a lot of male artists the excuse to depict woman on woman sex in their paintings, especially in the 18th and 19th centuries. I wonder if some of these painters were crossdreamers themselves.

Read The day Jupiter took the form of Diana in order to seduce the nymph Calisto over at Crossdream Life.

Gender Bending in Ishuzoku Reviewers

Over at the excellent Crossdream Life Forum for  crossdreamers, transgender and nonbinary people Lost drew my attention to a new episode of Ishuzoku Reviewers, which tells the story about several magical male to female transformations.

Below find a censored version of that episode.

It is not easy to see what is going  on here, beyond the obvious.

Artbreeder AI turns men into women

Here's another find from the Crossdream Life forum: A new artificial intelligence driven web site called Artbreeder allows you to change the gender, age and color of images of people.

Gulliver Arkham writes:

I imagine many here have already heard about Faceapp, however, there is a new site on the web that I personally think is far better, it's called Artbreeder and you can do all sorts of arty things on it.

Including changing faces, it takes anywhere from a few minutes to an hour depending on where your upload is in the queue, at the end of which you get not the picture as is, but “an approximation” but oh, the things you can do with that approximation.

With faces, can looks at Children Crossbreed or Edit-Genes and do all kinds of things.
Over at Crossdreamers Jack Molay has used Artbreeder the site to explore our understanding of what it means to be feminine or masculine.

The Crossdressing Sherlock Holmes

Over at Crossdream Life gulliver.arkham has published a comprehensive overview over the times Sherlock Holmes has crossdressed as a woman:

Along with being the working definition of THE master detective, one of the things you soon learn on reading the original stories about Sherlock Holmes written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle about Sherlock Holmes, hereafter known as “The Canon,” is that he was also a master of disguise. Appearing in disguise in 10 stories in The Canon, unless I miscounted, he is so good at the craft that not even Watson is able to tell who he was when playing at being someone else.

There are also crossdressing stories outside the canon, i.e. in stories not written by Conan Doyle.

The discussion also reveals that there has been a female Watson on TV (Elementary) and even a Japanese female Sherlock Holmes (Miss Sherlock).

Testing out new Discord chat room for sharing TG images and videos

I am testing out a new Discord chat room for transgender and crossdreamer fantasies, images, captions, stories and videos, and you can join it here.

If you are not a member of Discord, you should sign up first.

The new Discord "server"  was born out of a discussion over at the Crossdream Life forum, where many felt there was a need to make a clear divide between general discussions about crossdreamer sexuality and fantasies and the posting of erotic images for the sake of enjoying those images.

The Crossdream Life chat room remains the place to discuss transgender, queer, crossdresser and crossdreamer issues.

If you want to explore TG erotica just for the fun of it, however, you may join Xdreams.

Gender Bending in Electric Dreams

The very first episode of Amazon's TV series Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams has a gender bender theme.

(This post contains spoilers, be warned!).

Electric Dreams is a series in the same tradition as The Twilight Zone and Black Mirror, with freestanding episodes with a science fiction or fantasy theme.

The script writers have made a clever use of the science fiction reality concept of virtual reality. In this case the virtual reality is so real that it is indistinguishable from real life.

The main character, which starts out as the future cop Sarah, uses a VR machine for therapeutic purposes and finds herself in the past, as a man.

So is it a male to female transformation story? Maybe not. That's the clever part of this story.

In any case, even if the gender change is not the main topic here, there are some interesting reflections of why the virtual reality is relevant for readers of this blog.

Please note that in some countries this episode is listed as episode 5 of season 1.
